BALTIMORE, MD, UNITED STATES, September 16, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — BCR Cyber, a leading provider of comprehensive cybersecurity training and job placement services, and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (Poly), a historic public, coeducational citywide magnet high school, today announced the donation and installation of a BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range at Poly, bringing industry-grade cybersecurity training technology directly into a Baltimore City public high school classroom.

Provided to Poly by BCR Cyber as an in-kind donation, the Series 3000 Cyber Range is an industry-grade training environment that simulates real-world cyberattacks and allows students to develop practical skills in areas including network defense, threat detection, compromise mitigation and incident response. It is the same class of technology BCR Cyber uses to train and place adult learners with government and commercial employers across Maryland.

The range is accessed via dedicated remote workstations and is intended to be integrated into the school’s existing computer science and engineering coursework, giving students hands-on experience defending live systems rather than learning cybersecurity concepts in the abstract. Students will work through guided attack-and-defend scenarios that mirror the incidents Maryland employers face every day.

BCR Cyber’s support extends beyond the technology itself. As part of the donation, the company will provide instructor training, train-the-trainer support, and administrative support to help Poly faculty build and sustain the program independently over time.

“Donating this range to Poly represents an important next step in building Maryland’s cyber workforce by reaching underserved students earlier in their education journey,” says Michael Spector, President and CEO of BCR Cyber. “Students will have access to the same type of hands-on technology and training they would encounter in college or on the job, presenting Maryland employers with an additional pipeline of skilled talent.”

“Poly has spent 143 years preparing students for careers in engineering and technology, and this donation extends that tradition into cybersecurity,” says Mark T. Sawyer, Principal of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. “Our students will now train on the same equipment professionals use to defend real networks, and that kind of hands-on experience, turning theory into practice, changes what they believe is possible for themselves. We are grateful to BCR Cyber for investing in our school and our students.”

The donation also supports goals of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future, the education legislation enacted in 2021 to transform Maryland’s public education system, improve student outcomes, and expand opportunities for students who have historically been underserved.
