Lynn Brinckmeyer is a Distinguished Professor Emerita at Texas State University and a nationally and internationally recognized educator, speaker, and transformational coach whose career has centered on music education, leadership, mentorship, and helping others pursue lives aligned with their purpose. Lynn began her career as a public school music teacher before pursuing her doctorate to expand her influence within music education. Over the course of her career, she became deeply rooted in the choral and music education world, preparing future teachers, directing university ensembles, elementary-level choirs, and serving as Artistic Director for the Hill Country Youth Chorus until her departure from Texas State University.

During her tenure in higher education, Lynn served in multiple leadership roles, including Associate Dean at Texas State University. In that capacity, she developed a strong passion for mentoring educators and supporting teachers in helping their students succeed. Lynn also served as National President of the National Association for Music Education, the largest music education organization in the United States. When Lynn wanted to become a music teacher, she believed that was possible because her mother was always in her corner, no matter what. Her mother was a divorced mother raising four children, and through her example, she taught Lynn resilience and the importance of doing what she loves.

Rather than settling for a job that would simply be acceptable, Lynn pursued music because it was what she loved. Her mother’s unwavering support and the lesson to follow her passion rather than settle became the foundation of much of what Lynn has accomplished.

That philosophy continues to shape Lynn’s perspective today. The career she built in music education, the leadership opportunities she pursued, her work mentoring educators, and her transition into coaching and speaking all reflect a willingness to follow meaningful opportunities rather than simply choose what appears safe or acceptable.

The best career advice Lynn has received throughout the years is straightforward but deeply personal: “Do I really love this? If not, what would I REALLY love?”

That question continues to serve as a guiding principle in her professional and personal life. Rather than encouraging people to remain committed to something simply because it is familiar, Lynn believes individuals flourish when they remain curious about whether their work is truly aligned with what they love and what gives them a sense of purpose.

This perspective also informs her work with individuals and organizations. Through coaching, speaking, and transformational work, Lynn seeks to help people move beyond limitation and consider what becomes possible when they create lives that reflect their values, passions, and vision.
